Salary: £40K -£45K

To support expansion plans and increased commercial activity, this company company is looking to recruit a highly experienced innovative and enthusiastic manufacturing Procurement Manager to head up the buying function of the business. Combined with excellent negotiating, forecasting, analytical and planning skills. The candidate should be able to demonstrate solid commercial awareness and strong business acumen within a manufacturing environment.

The Procurement Manager whilst reporting to the Manufacturing & Production Manager, will also provide the senior management team with procurement analysis data with the objective to provide effective planning, strategic and operational plans to save costs and other functions, such as:

Key areas of responsibilities:

- Developing and implementing strategic commercial procurement activities (production and non-production).
- Sourcing new profitable suppliers from the UK and Worldwide.
- Negotiating contracts with current and new suppliers.
- Manage suppliers and purchases through effective strategies which meet budgetary, stock and operational quality standard requirements to support the company’s overall strategy and goals.
- Monitoring and evaluating supplier performance and order discrepancies.
- Material requirements planning (MRP) production planning, scheduling, and inventory control using SAGE 200 software.
- Raising relevant PO’s/stock movement orders and order progressing.
- Implementing a Stock Bar Code Inventory Management System.

Qualifications and Experience

A degree calibre candidate together with or working towards CIPS Chartered Institute for Procurement & Supply accreditation. Experience is necessary in the following areas:

- using an MRP/ERP System – SAGE 200 preferable.
- using a Stock Bar Coding System.
- meeting deliverables in a fast-paced working environment.
- negotiation and supplier management skills.
- contract management skills.
- leadership skills to manage and develop a small purchasing and stores team.

Essential skills required:

The role has responsibility for the implementation of MRP/ECRs and the negotiation and implementation of service agreements with key suppliers. You will establish and implement a robust schedule of production parts where applicable and be responsible for planning, supply management, and inventory analysis. The development of current and future new product strategies with production engineering stakeholders to optimise costs, whilst meeting the product quality standards.

Desirable Skills include:

- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of SAGE 200 software.
- Bar Code Inventory Management system.
- Understanding of import and export controls.
