Position: Process Technician (Pilot Plant)
Location: Rotherham
Reporting to: Technical Project Manager

Purpose
- To maintain and assist in the operation of the pilot plant for the production of clean chrome oxide

Duties
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager & Process Development Chemists to ensure efficient operation of the pilot plant
- Operate machinery (Reactors, Pumps, Agitators, Filter Press units, drying oven and furnace)
- Assist in the addition of chemicals into the process reactors (Polyethylene, polypropylene, glass and glass lined reactors)
- Cleaning of Pilot Plant building and process equipment to ensure that it is free from contamination
- Additional housekeeping duties in working areas, as required
- Ensure that all process run data is correctly recorded and reviewed for changes that impact on process run quality
- Ensure samples are taken to the Laboratory for testing at each stage, in a timely manner
- Observe safe working practices in carrying out duties, ensuring instructions are adhered to
- Any other reasonable requests by the Technical Project Manager and Process Development Chemists

Knowledge and Expertise
- H&S compliance knowledge
- Good secondary education, including GCSE level in Maths, English, Science
- Experience with operating equipment in a heavy plant/manual setting
- Experience adhering to safety practices and handling of hazardous/chemical materials
- FLT licence
- Good communication skills, written and oral
- Ability to accept work instructions
- Good team worker, and ability to work alone
- Flexible attitude to work and tasks
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in all undertakings
- Heavy plant / manual background
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated
- Proactive and reliable
- Progressive attitude towards training and development

Hours: 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday (willingness to work overtime & weekends with notice)
