Job Purpose
To produce metals and alloys including Chromium Metal, Chrome Carbon and Ferro Alloys by the alumino-thermic reduction of metal oxides
Duties
- Weighing and blending raw material mixes
- Firing reactions to produce finished product
- Submit samples to Laboratory as requested
- Low level maintenance routines
- Maintain production records
- Report breakdowns to Maintenance Department
- Strip reaction pots to acquire metal and melt
- Prepare fresh reaction pots and dry them ready for use
The Person
Candidates should:
- Have experience on forklift trucks
- Have experience of crane driving and slinging
- Be capable of using appropriate computer driven control systems

Salary:
- Basic: £30,495
- Gross on 3-Shift (including shift premium): £35,541
- Gross on Rota (including shift premiums): £41,106
- Initial training rate (including shift premiums): £28,280
Hours:
- 4-on, 4-off rota
- 2x 12-hour days (6am-6pm), 2x 12-hour nights (6pm – 6am), 4 days off
- New starters to join the current 3-shift system for an initial training period (Days: 6am-2pm, Nights: 10pm – 6am, Afters: 2pm – 10pm)
