A small to medium sized plant which forms a part of a large global organization are recruiting for a Process Engineer to join their Stowmarket team.

The Process Engineer will be expected to develop a detailed understanding of the manufacturing process, and provide technical advice on operating parameters and changes to maintain and improve process safety, quality and economic performance.

The successful candidate will be required to:

- Analyse process performance and advise on changes necessary to achieve optimum process safety, reliability, and cost. Investigate deviations from product quality specifications and when deviations are highlighted by SPC charts or other indications, and Provide clear and timely reporting of findings and recommendations.
- Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned process engineering projects. Contribute process engineering design to new projects and existing infrastructure.
- Perform as a Project Manager on smaller projects, including project development, budgeting, appropriation request (AR) preparation, contract management, process engineering, cost controls, quality controls, implementation, reporting and start-up
- Develop and maintain awareness of the ‘state of the art’ in raw materials, process control, engineering and safety to enable upgrades and improvements to site safety, efficiencies, protection of the environment and costs.
- Coordinate project activities, production trials/evaluations with production, laboratory and maintenance teams to facilitate project completion.
- Develop and maintain reporting systems for key performance indicators, as required for site purposes, corporate stakeholders, and 3rd parties

Essential requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering OR Master’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering.
- Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and sound knowledge of Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Good understanding of Statistical Process Control and other statistical tools
- Strong knowledge of chemical thermodynamic principles.
- Able to research and analyse difficult information and draw valid conclusions.
- Managing smaller engineering projects.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

Preferable Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical discipline.
- Three years industrial experience in pyro-metallurgical field.
- Strong Excel skills, including simple macros. Also MINITAB, SAP, and very basic AutoCAD
- Able to understand and apply six sigma principles and tools, possibly green belt certified
- Basic knowledge of process control/automation e.g. PLC/HMI, PID controllers
