This is an expanding start-up company based in the Edinburgh BioQuarter/Edinburgh University offering specialist preclinical contract research services to Pharmaceutical companies focussed on Immuno-Oncology, Immunology and specialised multiplex Histology.

Job Description:
They are looking for an experienced and ambitious immunologist, ideally with a background of research in Macrophage biology, who has the ability to apply their technical experience and knowledge to a variety of client and company projects within the Immuno-Oncology area

Key Tasks:
- Work with the team and relevant academic contacts as required to ensure quality conduct and delivery of client projects primarily in the Immuno-Oncology area.
- Scientific study design, project planning, resource management and coordination of project activities.
- Effective line management of a number of Scientists, delegation of project tasks across the team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of client data and reports.
- Ensuring accurate record keeping of all experimental work, from initial protocol development, accurate lab notes, through to write up of results and report production, archiving.
- Where appropriate provide training in the production and maintenance of primary cell cultures (eg. Monocyte, Macrophages, DCs and T cells) as well as various tumour cell lines as required.
- Oversee preparation of standard reagents, compounds and test substances as required.
- Where required, conduct experimental readout and analysis using cell sorting, flow cytometry, ELISA, PCR, etc.
- Data analysis and quantification using appropriate statistical methods.
- Actively interrogate scientific literature to understand relevant therapeutic targets in the Immuno-Oncology area as necessary for individual projects.
- Implement quality control steps to ensure projects are conducted and delivered according to the standards expected, developing new or updating SOPs as required.
- Training new/junior members of staff.

Desired Skills/Experience:
- PhD essential (Immunology/Molecular Biology/Oncology desirable), with > 5 years post-doctoral experience/previous experience of Pharma/Biotech drug discovery or contract research service delivery
- Strong verbal communication skills, participating in client and lab discussions.
- Demonstrable laboratory experience in sterile TC methods, ELISA, flow cytometry, PCR
- Supervisory management experience desirable
