An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join the Development Management Team as a Principal Planning Officer at this Council. The Council provides services for residents and the business community across the biggest Borough in the UK and also manages the Northampton Alive Projects which include showcasing Northampton’s Enterprise Zone, regeneration projects and inwards investments. The Council’s Vision is: Ambitious, Prosperous and Proud with the aim of delivering a great Northampton to live, work, study and visit.
The successful candidate will be joining a high performing, well-established team working closely with Policy and Regeneration colleagues to assist in the delivery of major development to shape a variety of environments, from town centre regeneration to major sustainable urban extensions.
Main responsibilities will include dealing with a varied caseload of predominantly major planning applications including EIA development, negotiating S106 agreements, representing the Council at Appeals, presenting to Committee and providing professional planning advice to internal and external customers.
They are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with Chartered Membership of the RTPI. An effective communicator and negotiator, you will have considerable experience of working in a Development Management with the ability to mentor junior team members and a commitment to Continued Professional Development whilst managing the competing demands of a varied and complex workload.
