This startup company are looking for an ambitious Prep Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen.
You’ll perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes.
A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be skillful and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. You will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as part of a team looking to grow fast.
Currently, the position is for two day per week, Monday and Thursday, but as the company grows the position will become permanent and full time.
Responsibilities
- Set up workstations according to their guidelines
- Clean and maintain workstations in practicing good safety, sanitation and organisational skills
- Follow recipes, portion control and presentation specifications as set by the company
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organised and easily accessible
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, empty bins etc.
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Knowledge
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Understanding and knowledge of health & safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
Skills/Aptitudes
- English language and good communication skills are required
- Ability to take direction
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organised
- Commitment to quality service and food knowledge.
