This busy and friendly NHS GP Surgery is pleased to be advertising the role of a Practice Nurse. The Surgery is a friendly and forward-thinking GP practice with an excellent reputation for innovation and carefully looking after staff and patients.

They are looking to appoint a friendly Practice Nurse who has existing experience working in General Practice. Successful candidates should have a Nursing Degree with a minimum 12 months post registration and be a member of the NMC.

Hours required are:
Monday 08:00 - 16:00
Tuesday 12:00 - 20:00
Thursday 09:00 - 17:00

Pay offered is: £18760-£25869 pa based on 21 hours/week (upper tier for exceptional candidates)

Offered with: NHS Pension, Medical Indemnity, 6 weeks annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays and team bonding events.

The principal duties of the post are:

- To offer advice and support to the HCA and GP team on nursing matters
- To manage stocks of clinical supplies and vaccines and liaise with admin team who carry out some of the actual ordering. Help manage annual flu vaccination ordering and campaign
- Infection Control Audit - To work with existing Infection Control team and help ensure the practice is compliant with CQC infection control requirements – liaise with Practice Manager and lead Infection Control Physician Associate.
- To provide TRAVEL ADVICE and immunisations as appropriate, including YELLOW FEVER vaccinations
- To offer FAMILY PLANNING advice and services with CONTRACEPTIVE PILL CHECKS.
- To undertake annual IUD and PESSARY checks.
- To undertake complex DRESSINGS and dopplers (although HCA team do simple wound dressing so provide supervision and support to them).
- To undertake CHILDHOOD IMMUNISATIONS required to meet the local and national targets - assist with the recall system and updating immunisations for newly registered children
- To undertake CERVICAL SMEARS required to meet local and national targets and to take SWABS as required - assisting with the recall system and updating of cervical smears from Open Exeter.
- Removal of SUTURES not appropriate to the district nursing service or HCA team

They require adequate literacy and numeracy, eg GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. The successful candidate will have a cheerful and friendly nature, a willingness to learn, good communication skills and be prepared to commit to the position.
