This company is one of the UK’s largest online pharmacies, allowing patients to order medication from the comfort of their own home. Over the space of just two years, the company has registered over 100,000 patients and dispatched over 200,000 orders.
The website runs on the e-commerce platform CS-Cart and has been under the development of a third-party agency since launch. Due to exponential growth, the plan is to gradually bring all development work in-house, building an internal development team from the ground up. This role is the first vacancy for the team and is a solid opportunity to progress into a lead developer role.
The nature of the industry poses some challenges for online pharmacies such as the company. They are looking for a bright individual to develop safeguarding measures, third-party integrations, add-ons to aid the dispensing process for the pharmacies amongst many other tasks. Every week will throw an exciting new challenge due to the pace of the industry.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, they are looking for a candidate with the following skills:
- Strong PHP knowledge with a good understanding of object-oriented code.
- Ability to write clean, semantic HTML5.
- JavaScript with knowledge of the jQuery library.
- Experience implementing JSON-based API’s.
- Version control.
- Strong MySQL knowledge.
The following skills would be beneficial for internal tools but are not necessary:
- Knowledge of Linux systems, particularly CentOS.
- Knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Services) including EC2, S3, Lambda and SQS.
- Knowledge of Node.js.
Working hours are 9-5pm Monday to Friday from their units based in West Bridgford, Nottingham, close to the Nottingham Forest ground.
