Salary range £13,461 - £15,300 p.a. pro rata
(Based on FTE £22,435 - £25,500)

This hospice in Berkhamsted is looking for a part-time Payroll & Database Administrator (Wed, Thurs and Fri) to be responsible for the operation of the Payroll function, including the Hospice pension schemes.

Working closely with the Finance and HR Team to ensure monthly deadlines for the payment of salaries, all statutory and fiscal obligations in the remuneration of the staff and more general reporting requirements are met, in conjunction with the payroll bureau.

The role will include preparing the monthly payroll, inputting data into the integrated HR/payroll database, administering sickness absence, the statutory sick pay, maternity and paternity schemes, preparing P45’s/P46’s and more. Records are maintained and managed in line with data protection.

Successful candidates will have a minimum of 3 years payroll experience, including experience working with complex payrolls and have excellent database skills. You will be organised, aware of the need for confidentiality and have excellent attention to detail and keyboard /IT skills.

Monthly Payroll
- Ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Responsible for the preparation of the monthly payroll. This will involve checking data in the integrated HR/payroll database including changes for any new roles or working hours.
- Assigning or amending associated database records for /pensions/sickness/personal details and processing of timesheets and anomalies.
- Input onto database calculating SSP and full/half pay entitlements and notifying staff and HR as appropriate.
- Administer the Statutory Maternity and Paternity payments, in conjunction with the payroll bureau.
- Responsible for P45s, New Starter Checklists and tax code amendments and correct application of NI codes for all members of staff.
- Answer pay related queries by internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that all communication is treated in a sensitive manner, and maintaining confidentiality.

Annual payroll
Ensure that all year end reports are submitted to HMRC by the relevant deadlines.
Input the annual pay increase to the database making adjustments to pay bands/ structure as approved, liaising with the HR team.

Pension
To be up to date with the rules of the NHS, Stakeholder and NEST pension schemes and the procedures to be followed and to act as the principle point on contact for each scheme.

To be responsible for calculating and checking the pension deductions to all the pension schemes, paying the contributions by the correct date, and all reporting to external pension agencies.

To work as a member of the Finance Department and help with general departmental tasks as required.

22.5 hours per week Wed, Thurs, Fri. There will need to be some flexibility with working days.
