This company is a spin out from the university of Oxford. They are producing the next generation in super-resolution microscopes. Their style is good science, hard work, depth of intellect and team approach.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone practical, looking to join a forward-thinking company with a strong commitment to the development of its people. The company currently employs 12 people in a modern facility, and has detailed plans for continued growth and success over the coming years.

Personal Qualities:
Demonstrable success in hardware projects requiring attention to detail a meticulous, patient and composed approach. Ability to learn fast. Attention to detail, practical approach, good manual dexterity and eyesight, diligent and careful approach. Concise and accurate communication skills. A love of things mechanical and electrical. Literate, numerate, organised. High levels of energy and enjoys working in a team.

Qualifications and Experiences:
- 2 years Manufacturing experience desirable.
- Optics and optomechanics know-how desirable.
- 3D CAD design expertise desirable.
- Computer skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- At a minimum, GCSE level qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Degree preferred although not required).
- An understanding of technical drawings and measurement calculations.
- An interest and aptitude for hardware product design and visual design.
- Understanding of mechanical and electronics principals, technology, and processes.
- Scientific instrument assembly and adjusting skills.
- Experience in an optical or laser background.
- Experience/understanding of test (e.g. Functional test, Optical Alignment) including requirements for equipment and jigs.
- Basic IT skills including e-mail and experience of computer-based manufacturing planning.
- Great attention to detail, good concentration, and manual dexterity.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to work to deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Kitting and assembly of complex mechanical parts.
- Population of sub-assemblies with electronic or optical elements.
- Test the systems, following an agreed protocol and report.
- Compliance with health and safety standards, flexibility, and development of skills through the complete manufacturing process, and the production/product cells.
- Maintain a high standard of 5' s workplace organisation. Continuous improvement/elimination of waste, through 'Lean Manufacturing techniques/tools'.
- Cleaning of parts/assemblies prior to final assembly.
- Calibration and maintenance of the manufacturing equipment.
- Development/support of new processes where appropriate.

Hours:
5 days per week. Hours 09:00 – 17:30
