On Call Support Officer

£10.50 per hour/double time for public and bank holiday

This company is a leading and growing provider of supported living services for people with learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties. They aim to deliver a highly effective and responsive service to those they support on a 24/7 basis. As part of this service an out of hours on-call service for staff and service users is provided by a small team of On Call Support Officers.

Operating at a level and responsibility of a Team Leader within the organisation you will be a valuable resource for Support Workers and Senior Support Workers undertaking shifts in the supported living tenancies. The position will involve fielding phone calls and queries as well as visits to provide extra support and also emergency shift cover when necessary. There will also be administrative duties and engagement with care planning, quality assurance and team management processes.

The successful candidate will be a flexible, well-motivated individual, with a solid understanding of and commitment to providing a safe, effective, responsive person centred support to people with learning difficulties in a supported living context.

Applicants will be or will have been support workers / senior support workers who are now looking to make a next career step. They will have a broad knowledge of the kind of day to day issues and challenges faced by staff and service users in the areas of:

- Supported Living
- Profound and multiple learning difficulties
- Autism
- Complex needs
- Epilepsy
- Rota management

Shifts will be on a five day on/five day off basis working between the hours of 1pm - 9pm. There will also be the requirement to provide emergency only night time response, for which event overtime payment will additionally be paid (if called out to attend).

Regular overtime opportunities will be available in many of the supported living tenancies; however, undertaking these is not a condition of the post. Overtime hours are paid at equivalent Support Worker rate of £8.05 or £8.15 dependent on the level of support provided.
