This media company offers everything businesses need to know about food and drink innovation and trends around the world, and interprets them to help its audience improve their business. This company has two leading international publications. It also operates the industry’s most established and respected awards schemes.

The News Editor will play a central role in helping to set and deliver the editorial agenda for the Company's industry-leading website, with opportunities to get involved in other parts of extensive digital portfolio. You will work alongside an existing editor and digital features editor on the website, as well as the editor of their magazine.

Candidates for this position will be asked to complete a short writing and editing task at interview stage.

Key Responsibilities:
- Writing and editing daily news content for FoodBev.com
- Monitoring breaking news stories and staying informed about the latest trends in the food and beverage industry
- Playing an active role in a range of digital content, which may include conceiving and commissioning feature ideas, researching analytical articles, penning opinion pieces, editing press releases, creating newsletters, recording podcasts, interviewing food and beverage industry leaders, and collating photo galleries
- Ensuring the website is up-to-date and well-maintained at all times
- Providing general support and cover to the rest of the editorial team

Attributes:
- Two years’ experience, or equivalent, in some form of digital publishing or journalism
- Relevant degree at 2:2 or higher, or equivalent
- The initiative to develop new content ideas and think of new ways to add value for our readers based on the content they are already producing
- Exceptionally high standard of accuracy
- Unquestionably high standard of written English
- Strong understanding of SEO best practice and social media
- Understanding of journalism law and copyright considerations
- A self-motivator with an ability to find out interesting new angles and stories
- Understanding of where to find a story and how to adapt it to our audience – maybe you have experience with RSS feeds, Google Alerts, newswires or similar
- A good communicator with strong organisational and interpersonal skills
- The ability to prioritise your workload and work independently when necessary
- A passion for food and drink, plus the enthusiasm to learn on-the-job
- Working knowledge of Wordpress and Adobe Photoshop
- Additional experience in video/audio production a usable bonus

The Conditions:

- Permanent, full-time position
- Hours 37.5 per week
- The notice period will be one month on either side (following a successful completion of a 6-month probationary period)
