This science museum is world-renowned for its historic collections, awe-inspiring galleries and inspirational exhibitions. Their vision is to be the best place in the world for people to enjoy science, and they are seeking an enthusiastic experienced and capable Museum Technician with a specialism in the field of electronics who wants to be part of their ongoing success.

You'll be responsible for the maintenance, repair and upgrade of electronics, computers and audio-visual hardware as used in a variety of bespoke interactive displays. As a member of the wider gallery team, you'll participate in many other activities.

You will have a City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent qualification orhave with a proven track record and demonstrable experience, in a relevant discipline.

You'll be expected to work in the Museum Workshops, on the public galleries as well as gallery build/stripout sites. There will also be an opportunity to demonstrate their working objects, such as steam engines (Burnley Mill Engine) and mechanical loom.

You must bring a background in IT systems, computer hardware/software repair and fault finding, or electronics. We are also looking for knowledge of PC, Mac and Linux based operating systems, PC building, hardware fault finding and repair, software installation and configuration. Component level repairability would be a bonus.

A good knowledge of health and safety as relevant to the role, including COSHH and risk assessments, is also required. Candidates offering CAD skills would at an advantage.
