This leading manufacturer of Incineration Systems and Thermal Waste Treatment Solutions is a growing global player and recent double winner of the Queens Award for International Trade. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide critical specialist capabilities and mechanical engineering support for their internal teams and their customers. You will drive concept development and implementation of the mechanical and thermal aspects of their products and customer-led design.

You will have the technical knowledge required to excel in this role and lead their mechanical design, materials science, environmental testing, reliability and failure analysis efforts. You will have a record of success in a similar role and be able to provide examples of the challenges you have faced and overcome.

Key Activities:
- The mechanical design of projects from conceptualization to implementation
- Design improvement including PLC control systems and automation equipment.
- Thermal modelling to provide theoretical predictions of temperature, pressure air flows, etc.
- Broad-based engineering and technical support for customised incineration projects.
- Manufacturing support and assembly guidance, including the supply of working drawings for the shop floor.
- Customer support for start-up and repairs, and support of developmental projects..
- Review project system requirements, technical specifications, and reference drawings to prepare layouts for parts/sub- assemblies from concept phase through detailed design & drawings.
- ISO 9001 adherence and generation of Operating and Maintenance Manuals.
- Perform analysis for product development using the FEA analysis, heat transfer, Computational fluid dynamics, statics and strength of material calculations.

Knowledge, Skills & Education:
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a Computational Fluid Dynamics specialism.
- May consider Bachelor’s degree in related field with relevant experience.
- You will have knowledge of Thermal analysis, and also be familiar with CAD design tools for mechanical engineering and computational fluid dynamics with experience using ANSYS.
- Proficient with 3D CAD systems, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Experience with heat transfer problem solving (conduction and convection), Thermal stress, Fouling and Slagging,
Corrosion, Vibration dynamics, and Materials science.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology and the ability to apply that knowledge to custom, innovative design concepts.
- Good knowledge and understanding of thermodynamic science, mass flow balance and heat calculations.
- Knowledge of design considerations for heat-resistant alloys.
