The Role

A Managing Director opportunity has arisen within an established and growing Fresh Produce company. The business has flourished, the workforce has grown and sales performance has improved across the teams.

The Managing Director whilst overseeing both sales and operations of the business. You will be responsible for the P&L, planning and implementation of a growth strategy in order to continue year on year growth trends.

Successful and experienced in the Fresh Produce industry, it is going to be advantageous in building upon the existing business base and this really is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and accomplished individual to provide the leadership, strategic and commercial direction for the business in order to deliver the expectations for future growth.

Key Responsibilities:
- Have a passion for the industry and an understanding of its environment; customers, competitors, and suppliers
- Gather first-hand information on the activities of the business; its product lines and its people in order to better understand the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead
- Full responsibility for the profit and loss of the business
- Ability to manage strong personalities and comply with company policies
- Take the lead by example in driving up sales and profitability
- Overall management of the performance of the Company offices and a workforce that encompasses sales, purchasing, finance, and IT and administration teams.
- Review & challenge existing practices, simplify process and enhance communication
- Oversee the legal, financial and compliance requirements for the business; manage the contractual arrangements for any Supplier Purchasing and outsourcing requirements

The Candidate
- Experience at a Managing Director / General Manager level of running a similar sized B2B Fresh Produce business; an exceptional senior Sales Director with highly relevant experience may also be considered
- Have led a business unit to a turnover of £10 Million +.
- Can demonstrate a positive attitude to delivering difficult tasks and issues
- Self- confident leader who takes ownership and delivers results
- Ability to motivate and positively lead individual people and teams
- Extensive management experience within a Fresh Produce Company, with a customer base of wholesale, food service, catering, packers, processors/juicers, distribution and able to demonstrate their knowledge, purchasing and sales leadership abilities.
- A strong work ethic and the ability to perform within a fast-paced environment
- A commercial thinker with the enthusiasm and experience to lead the team from the front in order to grow the revenue and profitability within Fresh Produce and generate new, complimentary and profitable revenue streams
- Strong Financial & IT skills, including CRM systems and excellent Fresh Produce knowledge
- Intellectually smart but able to roll their sleeves up and get things done
