This Southwest based specialist care provider is looking to recruit a Maintenance Person & Driver.
To undertake all maintenance work on their buildings and gardens and various ad hoc project works from time to time The job holder also undertakes reasonable on-call emergency work.
Safety Standard
All work to be undertaken to full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and home’s policy.
Normally at contracted place of work, but the job holder may be asked to work at other company sites from time to time. Driving duties will take the job holder off site regularly.
Hours of work: 35 hours per week normally between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00pm as arranged, but call out will also be necessary for emergencies. The maintenance person is first recourse for maintenance call out. No specific period of availability is required and no payment is made for non worked time, but hours work outside of the above are paid at enhanced payment.
- Regular checks on premises for maintenance requirements
- Seeing to all damage and faults and reporting as necessary, particularly if they constitute health & safety risks.
- Safe storage of COSHH chemical and all tools and equipment
- Routine maintenance as notified in the maintenance book
- Weekly testing of fire alarms, fire doors and monitoring of fire fighting equipment
- Purchase of necessary tools, equipment and materials for maintenance work from approved suppliers
- Obtaining of quotations from outside contractors as necessary
- Maintaining general tidiness of the site
- Monitoring water temperatures & undertaking legionella preventative actions monthly
- External decorating and general maintenance
- Minor Plumbing – washers, taps, waste blockages etc.
- To undertake all periodic checks as stated in the Maintenance Manual
- Minor carpentry – easing of doors, windows etc
- Tiling
- Maintenance of driveways and paths
- Periodic collection of prescriptions and other similar duties
- Driving duties – minibus driving and driver maintenance as directed
- Ensuring Roadworthiness and serviceability of the minibus at all times.
- Other routine tasks as listed in the maintenance manual
- Decoration of residents rooms as they fall vacant
- Small electrical appliance testing with certified PAT tester, annually and on admission of new residents and installation of new equipment.
- Periodic redecorating of public areas
- Minor alterations within the agreed competence of the job holder
Ad Hoc Project Work
Typical projects include:
- Knocking a doorway through between two rooms
- Decorating of public rooms and corridors
- Tiling of bathroom and related decorating and carpentry
- Occasional off site work at other premises
- Emergency call out
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety standards as stated in the Staff Health & Safety Manual, including attendance of self and team at mandatory training sessions
- Such other tasks as are reasonably requested by Manager
