This company is one of market leaders in linen rental services to hotels and business throughout Scotland and the North of England. Established more than 100 years ago, this successful company employs over 800 staff. The company currently operates from various plants in Scotland and one in the North East of England.

As a result of their continuing growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join their existing engineering team covering their Newcastle site.

The Maintenance Engineer is a fundamental role, responsible for pro-active maintenance support and to contribute to the overall efficiency of the plant. All candidates must have strong bias in electrical maintenance and be qualified to minimum NVQ Level 3

PRINCIPLE DUTIES
- Respond quickly and effectively to plant breakdowns so as to minimise production down time.
- Provide specialist electrical and general engineering maintenance services including, but not limited to; power distribution. lighting, machine electrical systems, pneumatics, fitting and power transmissions.
- Maintain plant, buildings and services to the highest standards of workmanship.
- At all times be aware of the safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your work. Follow all policy and procedures for Safe Systems or Work (SSOW) at all times for all individuals who carry out work to undertake work safely.
- Conduct risk assessments both regular and dynamic for the purpose of identifying significant hazards, risks and control measures to reduce the risks.
- Manage relationships with outside contractors and service p rovision as required
- Ensure security of plant when conducting maintenance
- Maintain good working relationships with production team leaders and at all times provide them with the best possible service.
- Complete administrative records as required
- Awareness and implementation of environmental management, engineering and sustainability.
- Cover production plant working shifts as required and emergency breakdowns, which may require your skills.
- Maintain engineering stores spares stock requirements.
- Initiate and present proposals to the engineering Manager for engineering maintenance projects
