This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services require an experienced Live in Carer to support their client, a gentleman in his 70s with physical disabilities following a serious road traffic accident and stroke. He is wheelchair dependent and is hoisted for transfers. He leads a very active social life and enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has an interest in antiques, going to concerts, visiting cultural sites as well as enjoying sports like cricket and tennis.

Role Overview
The Carer/PA will be expected to assist our client in accessing and facilitating domestic, social and leisure activities with the objective of enabling him to pursue a fulfilling and active lifestyle. Tasks will also include assisting him with personal care and catheter care, including some basic nursing requirements, domestic tasks including cooking, and driving him to social events.

Carer/PA Attributes:
- Experience of working with adults with disabilities is essential
- Confident cook– cooking for client and at times his friends and family
- Good communication skills, initiative, tact and diplomacy are all required.
- Being able to be proactive, encouraging, creative and having a good sense of humour are all important.
- Confident about working in the home environment and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client. To be adaptable to work to the clients specific requirements.
- Confident driver and being able to drive the client’s wheelchair adapted vehicle, in busy towns and cities.
- A full driving licence is essential (endorsements to be disclosed).
- *Physically fit - Even with specialist equipment in place and appropriate training, it is important that you are physically fit. A Handling Management Plan designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries may require you to bend, kneel, squat or lunge to ensure good posture during handling tasks.

Hours:
Live in cover required, working from Wednesday to Wednesday, alternate weeks in a comfortable adapted home.

Remuneration
£26,000 to £30,000 per annum, all accommodation and basic meals provided whilst on shift, free DBS check and on-going training and support, and supervision.
