This leading crane rentals and crane hire company is looking to recruit.

The roles and responsibilities of the Appointed Person will involve the planning, supervision and execution of lifting operations as defined in the code of practice BS7121 – Safe Use of Cranes

You will be responsible for developing a safe system of work for lifting operations, ensuring that the safe system of work is implemented. You will have overall control of the lifting operation, and act on behalf of the Company.

Responsibilities:
- Know the requirements of HS&E legislation and the arrangements of the company. Health and Safety Management System and Best Practice Notes.
- Ensure that legislation and industry guidance and best practice are observed at all times and that all registers, records and reports are in order.
- Hold a site inspection visit in connection with the customer to discuss their needs and take relevant notes and measurements etc. to enable a meaningful and relevant RAM to be produced prior to work on site commencing. Refer back to the client as many times as required to obtain required information.
- Risk Assessment to include site specific hazards.
- Monitor safety, health and environmental performance of personnel working to your RAMS and take action to remedy any shortcomings. E.g. RAMS completed fully, RAMS details followed, Incidents and near-misses reported.
- Only place sub-contracts with contractors who have been assessed by and approved as competent by the HSQE Team and are on the Approved Supplier list. Issue a PQQ to non-approved contractors.
- Ensure that all accidents and incidents are immediately reported by whatever means available to the safety manager and their line manager.
- Outsource specialised equipment / arrange cross hire of cranes/labour
- Liaise with customers and ECH employees
- Provide technical support and advice to ECH departments and customers
- Negotiate with customers to provide optimal solutions
- Produce quotes in a timely manner
- Act as a point of contact for each job planned for any required site based revisions to RAMS documents
- Assist sales team by bringing in one account per month

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- A good understanding of HS&E Legislation
- Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different cranes
- High level of mobility
- Strong CAD skills
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written).
- Great customer service and can-do attitude.
- Organised and efficient.
- CPCS card endorsed with either Appointed Person or Crane Supervisor in order to access some construction sites.

Basic working hours:
Full time position 8.00am – 18.00pm hours per week, fully flexible (will include nights and weekends)
Annual salary negotiable
Holiday Entitlement 28 days per annum (inclusive of bank holidays)
