Vacuum Tanker Driver

This national, independent firm works with all kinds of businesses and households using their fleet of Vacuum Tankers to remove sewage, sludge and cesspit waste, disposing of the waste at Authorised Disposal Sites.

They are currently seeking a Vacuum Tanker Driver to be based close to the M40 / M42 between Warwick and Bromsgrove. The role will initially be based at Bromsgrove but the operating centre will be relocated to the Warwick after a period of up to 6 months. The core working week is 50 hours, Monday to Friday, plus overtime as required by the needs of their customers. There is also occasional weekend work and out of hours call outs, which are paid at separate rates.

Starting pay is £458 per week, rising to £482.50 after completion of a 6 month probationary period, with 21 days plus public holidays.

The training period will be based at their Burton on Trent site.
It is expected that the successful applicant will:

- Hold category C or C+E driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points and have at least one year’s driving experience including manual gearbox.
- Hold current DCPC Qualification and Digital Tachograph Cards
- Be able to carry out daily vehicle checks and follow the defect procedure correctly
- Understand and be able to work within the relevant driver's hours and WTD rules
- Have good Communication skills, and professionalism to ensure that their customer care standards are maintained at all times.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all required documents on a daily basis.
- Be able to carry out the manual handling elements of the job including lifting tank lids and laying out and clearing long runs of pipe.
- Have experience of this type of work and knowledge of drainage systems (this is desirable but not essential as full training will be given).
- Be flexible to the demands with the daily variations in workload and be able to respond to emergency situations at short notice.
- Have good geographical knowledge of the Midlands
- Be confident, forward thinking and self-reliant and have past experience of working unsupervised
- Be willing to work in other operating areas for short periods, including nights away, if the needs of the business require.
