This is a newly created role that will sit within the legal team based in Doncaster (with UK travel) supporting the Client's Business Division including the Products, Supply Chain Services and Manufacturing business units as well as various subsidiaries and joint venture companies. You will have up to 2 years post-qualification experience ideally from a commercial department in a reputable law firm. You will have a keen eye for detail but also commercial acumen and be able to articulate how you add value to clients. Your approach should be one of common sense and clarity without excessive legal jargon.

You will be able to coach and support your colleagues to understand the legal implications of decisions to enable them to meet business objectives - not hinder – whilst ensuring that the business operates within its governance structure. This role is business partnering with the senior leadership population advising on all matters arising from a number of departments and transactions- including customer facing business units and internal support functions such as procurement, engineering, finance, it.

This truly is a cross functional opportunity for someone wanting to step into a talented existing in-house legal team who act as true business partners and advisors. The interview process will consist of initial verbal/numerical testing followed by a video interview. If successful, you will be invited to site for a competency based interview.

The role will appeal to those who are self-starters not afraid of working autonomously and taking responsibility for their own workload. There is a wide scope of work including increasing international support.

Role Responsibilities-
- Giving proactive legal, commercial and risk management advice to the Division’s operations.
- Prevention of agreeing onerous commercial and/or legal obligations in contracts.
- Ensuring adherence to the Division’s governance processes.
- Review and preparation of precedent documents for use by the division.
- Delivering legal training to the Division.
- Providing legal support for disputes and litigation.
- Liaising with the roup Legal, Treasury, Insurance and Property functions, as necessary.
- Assisting the Head of Legal to utilise the the company way in the legal function.

Essential Criteria:
- Qualified solicitor / barrister with up to 2 years’ post qualification experience.
- Understanding of the key principles of commercial and corporate law.
- Experience of advising senior management and/or boards of directors.
- Precise and detailed drafting skills with the ability to identify, assess and advise on key legal and business risks to a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to glean information, appreciate its importance and communicate matters clearly to colleagues of all levels.
- Willingness to travel (generally within the UK, but also occasionally overseas), sometimes at short notice.
