The company is an employee-owned business and has a history of shipbuilding and design going back to the 19th century. They work across all areas of the marine world, including Oil & Gas, Renewables and the Cruise & Ferry markets.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Review, draft and/or amend local and international agreements from pre-sale, tender revision, negotiations and completion stages, including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Memorandum of Understandings, Cooperation Agreements, Heads of Agreement, JV Agreements, Framework Agreements and various Commercial Contracts for the provision of goods and/or services in line with the business model and desired risk profile.

Evaluate the contract, including Terms & Conditions and related sections/documentation, including instructions to tender, scope of work, remuneration and administrative sections.

Report back to all relevant stakeholders proposing the necessary mitigation measures to ensure the contract reflects agreeable conditions.

Prepare/update summaries along the contracting life cycle (at least at tender and signatures stage) highlighting key contract terms as to inform the involved persons and secure compliance.

Verify and provide input during Pre-qualification processes and vendor authorisation approvals as required, ensuring adequate consideration is given to the insurance and intellectual property requirements.

Provide Project Managers with information and advice on contractual matters throughout the contract lifecycle including the administration of contracts in execution ensuring proper closeout of all outstanding contractual issues or outstanding matters to ensure due closure, including preparation of lessons learned as relevant to feedback the business for future projects.

Produce, task list maintenance and search for project documentation (reports, tenders and bids) for any member of staff in periods of peak demand.

Conduct legal research, gather project information and support claim management as required.

Some level of interaction with suppliers and clients expected. Attend meetings and negotiations and prepare minutes of meeting as required.

Keep records up to date, manage the correspondence and filing system of the Commercial Department.

General administrative duties

Experience/Qualifications:

Law Graduate and LPC (Legal Practice Course) completed. Outstanding marks in related branches of law such as but not limited to: Corporate, Contracts, Tort, Tax, IP and Insurance; and familiarity with international contracting INCOTERMS, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and litigation procedures.

1-2 years of relevant and demonstrable legal, contracts and commercial experience in contract management activities, including the revision of contract terms and conditions, administration of awarded contracts and face to face negotiations desired.

Proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages
