This is an opportunity to join an established and respected Principal contractor with an enviable client base. They undertake a wide range of projects across a variety of sectors including Leisure & Hospitality, Education and Commercial Office fit-out. Their projects include heritage and historic sites and national monuments as well as a variety of modern commercial buildings across London and the Home Counties.

Due to their continued and sustained growth, they are looking for an ambitious and experienced Architect to assume a managerial role to lead and grow our team of Architects and their growing pre-construction division.

The role will include taking the lead on planning submittals and feasibility studies, whilst also taking on the role of Project Architect on their D&B schemes. Reporting to the Director this is an ideal opportunity to join a successful team and make a real difference.

Role & Responsibilities

- Client interaction and the overall management of projects
- Preparing feasibility studies and scheme designs from initial concept to planning drawings
- Managing and supervising a team of architects and technicians to meet deadlines
- Be a pro-active member of the management team
- Responsible for the design output and day to day management of the team of architects
- Supporting the Director with the growth of the practice being involved in key business decisions, including recruitment

Required Skills & Experience

- Part III qualified with 4 years+ UK experience post qualification. Detailing experience of commercial & industrial refurbishment projects is essential (both internal and external). Of equal importance is understanding the technical and statutory issues inherent to these projects
- Practical experience in delivering multiple schemes at the same time, with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload as needs change
- Be an excellent designer in a wide variety of sectors
- Excellent managerial and organisational skills, good leadership skills, and a team player with a positive outlook
- Experience writing NBS specifications, knowledge of the latest building regulations and British Standards
- Skilled in Project Management would be beneficial but not essential.
- The ability to understand a Client’s brief and manage their expectations to deliver a project that meets their needs
- High proficiency in Revit & AutoCAD. Also a good working knowledge of the Microsoft and Adobe suites. The ability to use sketch up is highly valued
- A solid commercial understanding of the construction process, and the ability to design schemes that offer good value
