Reports to: General Manager
Hours: Part Time, 35-30 hrs per week, potential for full-time position
Holiday: 28 days including public holidays Pro-Rata
Salary: £20,000-£26,000 FTE depending on experience
Probation: Six months

This company is a well-established manufacturer and supplier of a comprehensive range of high performance packaging and labelling adhesives, based in Northwich, Cheshire.

The company supplies hot melt adhesives to food manufacturers, breweries and contract packers throughout the UK, and labelling wet glues to distilleries, breweries, water bottlers and cider makers.

Position overview
Based in the in-house laboratory in the Northwich office, you will:

- Be responsible for technical testing for find suitable products for customer’s applications and reporting back
- Organize and ensure quality samples are correctly logged and filed for track and traceability
- To manage and ensure compliance with ISO9001 standards
- Responsible for characterizing product
- Responsible for developing new products through R&D and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in a technical/lab role
- Understanding of chemistry and lab methods
- Experienced in manufacture and processing adhesives
- Some study on Chemistry or Physics– ideally A-level or degree
- Must be computer literate to a reasonable degree of proficiency in office including: word, excel etc
- Demonstrated ability to build systems within laboratory environment

Key Roles and Responsibilities
DEPT 1 – Technical service
- Evaluate and match customer’s substrate materials with suitable adhesives for the application
- Test products in different environments and document results for Sales team in reports
- Supporting line trials in technical capacity
DEPT 3 – Quality control
- Ensure all products in are track and traceable
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 standards
- Implement KPI’s to show departments progress
DEPT 5 – R&D of new Products
- Developing market leading products
- Evaluate raw material technologies and use key technologies to bring advanced products to the company
- Source and Partner with key toll producers
- Bring USP’s to the company and eliminate dependence on suppliers R&D facilities
- Able to research and bring together key partners to ensure latest technology is available
- Support customer trials with NPD products
DEPT 6 – Documentation of Data and learnings
- Planning developments against roadmap
- Documenting data and results
- Presenting to Company
- Managing R&D meetings
