Salary: £26,000 per annum
Location: Westminster
Hours: 36.25 hours per week
Holiday: 23 + 2 fishing days per year

The Role:
The Journals Editor is the first point of contact and public face of company for their authors working today in civil engineering in over 100 countries worldwide. Last year 800,000 articles were downloaded from their international technical journals, each held on their website platform.

The prime focus of this advertised role is the responsibility for managing the peer review of articles submitted to their journals, to ensure that each published edition remains on schedule and to the desired quality. This is an ideal job for someone with relevant publishing experience as the successful candidate will be expected to manage freelancers and to develop the journal titles that they manage.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that journals publish on time and to budget
- Oversee themed journal issues
- Provide Panels and freelance staff with a high level of support
- Work with the author community and contacts to invite new material
- Ensure appropriate quality control procedures are in place
- Promote published articles through social media

What they are looking for:
This role provides excellent career progression for someone with experience of working in a Journal editorial office. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an understanding of journal publishing.

This is not a writing or public relations role but applicants should be used to working as part of a team and be able to organise their time effectively. A high-level of computer literacy, attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills are also required.
