We have been retained by our client to find a Java Developer to support business growth. This is a fantastic opportunity to be fully exposed to the software and the people using it. You will be able to very quickly see the effects of your work in the production environment. The company works in an Agile-like fashion, doing sprints, are light on meetings, and adjust as necessary to fit the business needs and requirements.

There will be the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle: from gathering requirements, through development, testing, and documentation, to maintenance and training. Although if you prefer a pure coding role, that’s fine too.

There will be a substantial amount of support and development from the existing members of the team. You will also have access to training sessions and conferences, both internally and externally, to continue to develop your technical and personal skills, both on existing technologies in use as well as new and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities include:
- Working on the company’s flagship system
- Working on the full technology stack which includes: Java, SQL, HTML/CSS/JS, Spring, Hibernate
- Working in a small, dedicated, and very enthusiastic team
- Defining application objectives by analysing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality
- Designing and developing user interfaces to internet/intranet applications
- Recommending system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives
- Supporting users by developing documentation and assistance tools
- Updating job knowledge by researching new Internet/Intranet technologies and software products.

Essential technical skills required:
- Teamwork and enthusiasm
- Java
- SQL
- Web Technologies (HTML/CSS/JS)
- Version Control System

Beneficial technical skills include:
- Spring
- Hibernate
- Service Oriented Architecture
- Git
- Postgres

Location - the successful candidate will work from the offices in Wantage.

Hours of work - standard working hours are 9am to 5pm. The company has a positive view of flexible working and there is the opportunity to start early, finish early or start late, finish late.

Remuneration - basic salary up to £50k (dependent on experience) plus 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays), private healthcare, a workplace pension, lots of accessibility to training and personal development.
