IT Support Engineer – Oldham, Lancashire
Working hours: 8am- 5pm Monday – Friday

As a software and support solutions provider to the UK steel industry, they are looking for an ambitious, hard-working IT professional to join their existing IT Support Team.
The ideal candidate will be a bright, friendly and reliable individual who can multi task and work flexibly within a busy office environment. A confident communicator with good interpersonal skills and ability to learn new skills is a must. You will be required to possess excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work alone using your own initiative and as part of a team.
Reporting to the IT Manager you will be responsible for the handling of Support Issues through their full lifecycle in a structured and methodical manner until a final resolution has been achieved and communicated with the customer. This resolution will be achieved using any combination of remote support, telephone advice and on-site visits.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Technical Support for all our customers’ IT Systems
- Provide support on their bespoke ERP software packages
- Monitoring and troubleshooting of Daily Server Backups and housekeeping checks
- Configuration and Maintenance of the Server, Storage and Networking Infrastructure
- Work with 3rd party suppliers and Support Teams to resolve escalated incidents related to the IT estate
- Create and maintain Technical Documentation
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Minimum one years’ experience in an IT Support role or similar
- Experience supporting Windows Desktops – Windows 7 and above + Office 2010 and above
- Active Directory and Group Policy Administration
- Setup, Support and Management of Microsoft Exchange 2010 and above
- Working knowledge and understanding of Backup Systems
- Experience of WAN & LAN Networking Concepts including: TCP/IP, WLAN, VPN DHCP, DNS
- Experience of Peripheral setup and troubleshooting
- Good knowledge of Virtualisation – ideally Hyper-V
- Good understanding of IT security (Anti-virus, Malware, Anti-Spam, Windows Security)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and above
- Android / iOS platforms mobile
- Full UK Driving Licence
