An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our organisation in delivering the Department of International Trade (DIT) contract for Yorkshire and the Humber as an International Trade Information Adviser. DIT is responsible for promoting British trade across the world, providing bespoke and tailored services to businesses, supporting the achievement of their export growth objectives.

We are looking for an International Trade Information Adviser to contribute to and support the achievement of HMG’s 2020 export targets by being a first point of contact for businesses considering export as a growth strategy or established businesses seeking support to help them sustain or increase their export activity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Pro-actively identify new to DIT businesses where export may form part of an integrated growth strategy and successfully engage with these businesses
- Undertake with clients a preliminary analysis of information and development needs
- Provide clients with information, advice and guidance appropriate to their needs
- Identify other DIT services, or those delivered by private sector partners, that would benefit the client
- Ensure that all customer information is captured and recorded on DIT’s Data Hub
- Ensure personal follow-up actions are taken within agreed timescales
- Keep abreast of export / business issues, trends, legislation, regulation and opportunities
- Contribute to key team performance targets and objectives and evaluate and improve professional practices, knowledge and skills
- Undertake professional development and accreditations as required
- Undertake customer satisfaction surveys with all clients that have engaged with the DIT service

You will have experience working in a busy and demanding working environment, preferably involving customer services, sales or similar. You will demonstrate broad understanding of business operations and international trade and providing export support to SMEs. You will have demonstrable experience of telephone-based business support. Experience using CRM and other data entry systems is desirable. You will be a team player and self-starter, excited about working against challenging targets and timeframes, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to diplomatically, competently and effectively engage people at all levels.

This role is subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment screening.
