An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our organisation in delivering the Department of International Trade (DIT) contract for Yorkshire and the Humber as an office-based International Trade Adviser. DIT is responsible for promoting British trade across the world, providing bespoke and tailored services to businesses, supporting the achievement of their export growth objectives.

We are now looking for an office-based International Trade Adviser to contribute to and support the achievement of HMG’s 2020 export targets by providing advisory and / or specialist consultancy services to SMEs looking at developing their export activity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide clients with a professional, honest and high quality consultative export advice and guidance service appropriate to their needs
- Undertake with clients a preliminary analysis of information and development needs
- Take responsibility for individual targets, and contribute to key team performance targets and objectives
- Develop ongoing client relationships and work proactively with clients according to suit their needs, this will include a review of action plans and follow-up activities
- Identify and refer to other internal services that would benefit the client, including specialist services and workshops, and refer as appropriate
- Where appropriate, work with clients to develop strategic export plans, utilising the ERDF Exporting for Growth project
- Ensure that all client information is captured and recorded on DIT’s CDMS in line with existing procedures
- Keep abreast of enterprise / export / business issues, trends, legislation, regulation and opportunities and share best practise with colleagues and other teams as appropriate
- Undertake professional development and accreditations as appropriate to the role and as required

You will have experience working in a busy and demanding working environment, preferably involving customer services or similar. You will demonstrate broad understanding of business operations and international trade and awareness of aspects of developing an export function within SMEs/MSBs. You will have comprehensive and practical understanding of the needs and dynamics of new and established SMEs. Experience using CRM and other data entry systems is desirable. You will be a team player and self-starter, excited about working against challenging targets and timeframes, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to diplomatically, competently and effectively engage people at all levels.

This role is subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) pre-employment screening.
