The role

To fulfil their societal obligations to qualify and develop Civil Engineers, the International Membership Recruitment Manager is responsible for leading and delivering membership growth and development across international regions by identifying and developing country-specific strategies and proactive customer relationship management.

Duties and responsibilities

- Implement the business plan and key strategies with regards to Membership Recruitment
- Develop country – specific membership development strategies
- Ensure growth targets are met for international membership numbers across all grades of membership;
- Develop and manage programmes for professional qualification and membership growth in countries as directed;
- Advise and direct colleagues on all matters pertaining to the qualification process for international customers;
- Review, analyse and recommend improvements to policy and processes in relation to the professional qualification process for international customers;
- Provide advice on membership opportunities and careers and qualifications in civil engineering;
- Deliver presentations both in person and remotely to varied audiences on their membership;
- Provide leadership and management to direct reports based in various locations worldwide;

What are they looking for?

- It is essential that applicants have significant experience of customer relations and account management, with the ability to influence at a variety of levels;
- Experience of working in an international capacity is essential. Candidates should note that this role will require international travel so the ability to travel for periods of time on a regular basis will be required;
- Candidates will be experienced in managing a diverse multi-disciplinary team;
- Candidates will have strong written and oral communication skills, and will have the ability to build rapport with customers and audiences from a variety of different backgrounds;
- Attention to detail and the ability to turn technical material into non-technical outputs are essential;
- Applicants will be experienced in project management, business planning, budget preparation and financial management;
- Experience of sales, business development planning and implementation is essential;
- It is desirable that candidates have experience of the built environment, construction or civil engineering sectors;
- Knowledge and / or experience of engineering education, training and professional development is desirable;
