The role: Initial professional development (IPD) is a key part of the their process to prepare for the professional review and become professionally qualified. It is the process where candidates prove they have developed all the skills, knowledge and experience to become a professionally qualified member.

The IPD Specialist will play a key part in helping candidates to become a member; they will be responsible for all aspects of the Initial Professional Development (IPD) stage of the processes - excluding Career Appraisals. The IPD Specialist will also provide secretariat support to the Professional Development Panel and the Civil Engineering Employers Training Group and be responsible for managing the administration activities for admission to Associate membership (AMICE)

Duties and responsibilities
- Communicating with a range of audiences including staff, outside organisations and potential members about the Initial Professional Development processes.
- Providing advice to internal and external audiences about their routes to becoming professionally qualified
- Creating and updating associated guidance documents and website content relating to all aspects of their approved and mentor supported training
- Managing the administrative activities and processes and policies for IPD including TAGSO, IPD Online, Training Schemes, Mentor Supported training, and associated activities.
- Acting as secretary to the Professional Development Panel (PDP) and the Civil Engineering Employers Training Group (CEETG)
- Managing the administrative activities and processes for admission to AMICE and associated activities
- Maintaining the list of supervising civil engineers and mentors and managing the relationship to ensure that we establish and maintain excellent relationships with these vital volunteers
- Producing statistical data and preparing reports as required both for IPD and AMICE activities

The ideal new Team Member: A Customer First ethos. Attention to detail. The ability to prioritise and proactively react to changing deadlines. These are the core skills they are looking for in their next Team member. The ability - and the desire to - communicate, along with Committee administration experience and an understanding of Quality control processes are also key. Good working knowledge of MS Office applications; working knowledge of MS Project, SharePoint and Visio are also desirable.
