A small to medium sized plant, formed as part of a superb large global organization is recruiting for a Health and Safety Specialist. This is a brilliant role to further enhance and develop your H&S career. You will assist in the development, coordination and implementation of health and safety programs and procedures under the compliance of applicable laws, rules and regulations.

Essential Functions
- Representing Site Management during H&S Executive or Local Authority Inspectors, document regulated field activities, communicating company positions on potential violations, and addressing pertinent issues in the field to accommodate regulatory requirements.
- Performing difficult and complex health and safety audits and inspections.
- Assisting management in the development of health and safety procedures based on regulatory and/or client requirements while aligning with the US standards whenever possible.
- Using and interpreting applicable HSE, EU and local laws, ordinances, statues, regulations, rules, policies and procedures to support Safe Production.
- Assisting in responding to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies and/or community groups.
- Conducting Safety Training venues, including specialized safety training (e.g., confined space, LOTOTO) and Annual Refresher Training as required. Developing new safety training programs as required.
- Handling special projects and other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
- Right to live and work in UK
- NEBOSH General Certificate or higher H&S Qualification is absolutely essential for this role, as well as one of the following combination of educational & experience background:
1. GCSEs (grades A-C) or equivalent and seven (7) years Health & Safety experience, OR
2. NVQ level 3 or equivalent and four (4) years working in Health & Safety experience, OR
- NEBOSH Diploma in H&S as well as one of the following combination of educational & experience background:
1. NVQ level 4 or equivalent and three (3) years Health & Safety experience OR
2. Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or closely related degree and one (1) year experience.
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of applicable ordinances, regulations, rules, policies and procedures. Ability to analyze information and draw conclusions.
- Ability to perform sophisticated accident and incident investigation and maintain inspection records.
- Ability to communicate in one-on-one and group situations.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizes hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Actively participating and/or leading safety committees, working on H&S initiatives, participating on emergency response/behavior based safety teams, participating in HSE inspections
