Excellent opportunity to join a leading UK manufacturer of bespoke steel doors and security products.

They are recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety professional to join their QHSE team based at their site in Scunthorpe. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the business as the competent person for Health and Safety.

Your main responsibilities will include ensuring the organisation complies with current Health and Safety legislation, whilst proactively maintaining a system that promotes safe working practices across the business. To be considered for this role, you must have relevant experience and be a disciplined and focused individual with a drive to succeed.

Main Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in promoting a Safety First culture across the organisation.
- Advise the Board and Senior Management team on implications of current and emerging legislation, making recommendations and generating action plans for implementation.
- Report compliance with Health and Safety systems which meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting, near miss reporting, risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
- Prepare documents and procedures to enable the company to progress to OHSAS 18001
- Monitor compliance with the company Health and Safety policies and procedures on a day to day basis, undertaking safety walks and advising managers on areas of non-compliance for action.
- Supervise/perform internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures, identify and be part of implementing improvements.

Qualifications, Skills and Eperience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role.
- A relevant professional qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or an NVQ Level 5
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of delivery of Health and Safety Management systems.
- Excellent organisation, planning and communication skills and good self-awareness.
- Able to work as part of a team following a cohesive plan, and can also work independently.
