This privately owned food company is looking to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor/Manager to promote a positive health and safety culture within the workplace. You will be responsible for ensuring that management and employees comply with safety legislation and all safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to minimising accidents, injuries, operational losses and health problems.

Health and Safety is paramount to the Company and it is critical they operate within compliant and up to date legal procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities:

- Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced;
- Creating a culture throughout the Company whereby health and safety is paramount;
- Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards;
- Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
- Making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation;
- Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy;
- Leading in-house training with managers and employees covering health and safety issues and risks, compliance, procedures and updates;
- Recording and maintaining accurate health and safety training records ensuring refresher training is delivered as required;
- Conduct and record employee health and safety inductions in a timely manner;
- Keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
- Recording of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers;

Qualifications & Skills required:

One of the following qualifications is required:

- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- British Safety Council Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health;
- City & Guilds Level 5 (NVQ) Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice;
- National Compliance and Risk Qualifications (NCRQ) Level 6 Diploma in Applied Health and Safety.

Hours of Work:

- Suitable for part time working – hours to be agreed. On occasion you will be required to work out of normal office hours i.e. during training.
- This role is suited to those who have already a proven track record in the H&S, HSE function.
- Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum pro rata and dependent upon experience.
