The pioneering organic skin care company is looking for someone with a passion for natural cosmetics who can further its mission to create the healthiest high-performance skincare, haircare and makeup on earth.

This company is not a conventional beauty company. They are one of only a handful of companies to achieve Soil Association certification for health & beauty products. Their skin care and makeup is therapeutic, free from artificial chemicals and common allergens, and is used by many people who cannot tolerate high street products.

This is a senior role that takes responsibility for the development process as a whole, from initial brief to scaling up of formulations, organic certification and ongoing aftercare during manufacturing.

You would also be in charge of quality control of ongoing production. And we’d like you to be their hands-on person for technical queries about products and raw materials.

There’ll be some consultant input available from their founder and formulator of all their current products, but as she steps more into retirement, you would be their key team member in this area.

Key responsibilities:
- Formulating innovative, high-performance certified organic cosmetics according to their NPD plan.
- Organising the testing of all products in development: e.g. Stability, Compatibility, TVC, SPF.
- Minimising development time by quickly reacting to test failures and feedback.
- Maintaining a strong market position in terms of raw materials and competitors. This will involve attending relevant conferences and exhibitions.
- Keeping all development and current products compliant with EU cosmetic regulations, Fairtrade and organic certification standards. Provide the required QC reports for overseas customers.
- Ensuring that all bulk produced by the production team meets requirements and be responsible for quality control. Ensure appropriate quality control procedures are put in place and maintained.
- Checking correct raw materials are purchased, and managing raw material data sheets.

Requirements:
- A strong understanding of global and specifically EU cosmetic regulations.
- Great communication skills and ability to be a team player so that you create a good working relationship with the production and operations team.
- ‘Can do’ attitude, e.g. in case you are occasionally needed to carry out production & filling.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Cosmetics Formulation, including natural or organic formulations, and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
- A knowledge of aromatherapy, nutrition and skin concerns.

The role is based at their eco-factory and HQ in Mildenhall, Suffolk.

Job Type: Full-time or part-time considered.
