This company is looking to recruit a Group IT Engineer to be responsible for monitoring and administering the company’s computer hardware and software systems. Involved in the implementation and support of new and existing computer systems. Provides support for the operational activities of the I.T. service. Installs, and resolves issues with, computer hardware and software.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Assists with the installation and maintenance of company networks. Analyses and resolves problems associated with server hardware, network, and application software. Detects, diagnoses, and reports problems on both server and desktop systems.

Installs and maintains automated Software and System deployment tools. Implements and maintains security patching services.

Monitors and maintains Information Services and servers, replication, and routing. Ensures user accounts and security levels are accurately maintained.

Participates in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Group servers and backup systems. Ensures system backups are working and schedules test restores.

Develops, implements, and maintains firewall and anti-virus technologies that secure IT systems. Identifies network security issues, develops plans and procedures to ensure safety and privacy of information. Reviews security logs and violation reports.

Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support. Tracks and monitors the problems to insure a timely resolution.

Provide technical assistance and support with new and existing projects and systems and use the Helpdesk application to record problems and their solutions.

Maintain accurate records of computer hardware, software and associated equipment, with special attention to software licenses to ensure complete and accurate information is available for auditing purposes.

Skills and Knowledge:

- At least 3 years’ experience of working within an I.T environment is essential, preferably within a systems support role.
- Competent in the setup and basic problem solving of networked Switches, Servers, PCs, printers and associated hardware.
- Have a clear understanding of Server, PC and network security, including anti-virus systems, patch management, NTFS, Group and User permissions.
- Proficient in the use of Servers, PCs and printers in a networked Active Directory environment operating with Windows 7/10 and Server 2008/2012.
- Proficient in the use of various business application software packages, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
- Proven experience of Windows 7 operating systems and/or MCP qualification in either.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with persons at all levels, both internally and externally with suppliers, etc.
- Be self-motivated with desire to meet organisational and personal objectives.
- Good organisational and numerical skills.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
