The Group Financial Accountant role is a key part of the Finance team. The Group Finance team is based in Crawley, along with the Group’s senior management team including the Group Chief Executive Officer, Group Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.

The role will provide a variety of typical head office finance experience and reporting activities as well as interaction with senior management and the subsidiary teams as required.

JOB PURPOSE

The role will hold responsibility for all technical accounting and external reporting aspects of the Group finance function, supporting senior management in the production of a timely and accurate Annual Report and Accounts.

KEY AREAS OF DUTY & RESPONSIBILITY
- Management of year end statutory accounts and interim report process for the Group, reporting under IFRS.
- Liaising with the local business units and key stakeholders to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
- Preparation of the consolidated annual and interim report and accounts.
- Assisting in the preparation of subsidiaries' statutory accounts and the monitoring of accounting and reporting developments under IFRS.
- Preparation of board and audit committee papers.
- Preparation and review of technical accounting memos and discussion papers for all subsidiaries in the Group, with overall supervision and management of technical accounting projects for the Group.
- Assisting with various projects, including the due-diligence on potential acquisitions and the integration of newly acquired businesses.
- Follow up any investigations into internal accounting and external reporting implications of new and amended standards.
- Identifying improvements to current processes and applying/implementing them.
- Ad-hoc reporting and duties to support the senior management team.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Fully qualified (ACA or equivalent) accountant with up to date technical accounting (IFRS) knowledge.
- Experience of multi-currency consolidations.
- A strong awareness of current technical accounting and reporting requirements under IFRS.
- Previous experience in a plc and/or Group finance department is desirable but not essential.
- Experience of a manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
- Strong Word, Excel and analytical skills are essential.
