Testing and evaluating software is crucial for this company's customers and reputation. Quality Assurance (QA) Engineers are integral to the development and release of their GIS software offerings. They gain experience and expertise in all aspects of the product family along with a range of supporting IT architecture and technologies.

This is an ideal position for learning and applying GIS techniques to real world scenarios and exploring the capabilities, application and configuration for optimum customer use. Working with all aspects of the software range (web, desktop and development interfaces) the position offers the chance to define, test and collaborate on new and existing functionality. Specific tracking and management of the bugfix process is also crucial.

It provides a stepping stone to other potential roles within the organisation and applicants may also be considered for the Graduate Programme.

A Graduate QA Engineer will be expected to:

- Investigate and analyse software products to validate functionality, isolate and report bugs within the company defect track system
- Record and communicate testing activities and results in oral and written formats
- Design and develop software and automated testing procedures to test company products using programming skills in a Python environment
- Work with cloud and hosted environments, testing setups, security, databases and configurations
- Provide technical assistance for the production of user documentation
- Contribute to research and development programs and projects to meet the company’s needs and to capitalise on potential new products and functionality
- Implement research and development procedures and techniques as required

The ideal candidate will have:

- A minimum 2:1 (achieved or predicted) in a relevant degree subject such as GIS, Geography, Software Engineering or IT
- An understanding of GIS software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with and within teams from various departments
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- An inquiring mind and aptitude for learning within a range of different subject areas

Full training is provided to gain International Software Testing Qualifications Board accreditation.
