Location: Cambridge

Salary: £26k

Are you passionate about healthy environments and reducing carbon emissions? Do you want to work for a growing innovative company? They are seeking a high calibre, commercially astute technically-minded individual to join their team in Cambridge.

This company is the UK market leader in hybrid, low energy ventilation systems – relied upon by the world’s top architecture and engineering firms. The business has seen rapid growth in recent years and is continually developing and investing in new technologies and markets. They help engineers and designers offer a full solution to develop low-energy, sustainable buildings. They work with world-leading architects, consultants and developers, as well as providing sustainable design solutions in the education, retail, leisure and healthcare sectors.

Role

The ideal candidate for this role would be an engineering graduate seeking a technical and commercial challenge. The role will involve working closely with architects, main contractors, mechanical / electrical contractors and building services engineers to offer advice and guidance on ventilation strategy design. You will be working within a small team of enthusiastic engineers, reporting to the company Technical Director. Typical duties will include dynamic thermal model simulations, design stage assessment of temperatures and indoor air quality and technical report writing. The role will include attending external meetings, sometimes on site, to provide technical advice / support.

The role offers superb development opportunities, ongoing training, and experience in both office-based and site-based working environments, involvement in R&D, testing and consultancy projects. All engineers in their team are either working towards or have obtained registered engineer status through the Engineering Council.

Attitude and enthusiasm are just as important as qualifications and experience, although it would be helpful if you had:
- A good engineering degree (preferably mechanical) or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to prioritise and manage time.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, in particular Excel.
- The ability to read complex engineering and architectural drawings (desirable).
- Experience using VBA Macros within Excel (desirable).
- Experience with AutoCAD / SolidWorks or similar software (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience with ANSYS CFX of similar software (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience of the M&E consulting/contracting sector (advantageous but not essential).

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious, young company with ample scope for career progression and a chance to make a genuine impact on the built environment. A competitive package is offered and training will be provided as necessary.
