Job Summary:
Position: General Machine Operator on Turret Punch, Laser Cutter, Press Brakes and other machines.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7.30am – 4pm, Friday 7.30am – 1.30pm. 38-hour working week. Full-Time, Permanent role.
Location: Saltley, Birmingham
Salary: Up to £8.50 to £9.50 per hour (dependent upon experience)
Holidays: 20 Days’ Holiday per annum + Bank Holidays
Job Description:
This company is looking to appoint a General Machine Operator on Turret Punches, Laser Cutter and Press Brakes amongst other machines for a full-time role within their expanding business in the rail industry. This role is working within a team to defined processes and procedures to meet deadlines. The parts are safety critical and therefore attention to detail is of the utmost importance.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will have previous machine operating experience either on Turret Punches or Laser Cutters and hold a current Counterbalance Forklift truck licence. They are looking for a highly-motivated person with good computer skills and communication skills and you will need to operate well within a team environment. They are seeking someone who is capable of working to deadlines and within time frames and who can work well under pressure. You will need to have very good attention to detail and a good level of concentration.
They operate Prima Power Turret Punches and Laser Cutter and Press Brakes, amongst other machinery.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and safe working area to meet the requirements of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to, to ensure compliance with the accredited Integrated Management System.
- Wear PPE as required in accordance with Risk Assessments and all written instructions.
- Practice and maintain 5S disciplines in accordance with quality standards.
- Ensure hazardous waste is disposed of in accordance with the company environmental policy.
- Undertake any other reasonable management request in line with the business needs.
Basic Requirements:
- Current Counterbalance Forklift licence.
- Previous experience of working with Laser Cutting machines and/or Turret Punches.
- Eye for detail and pride in manufacturing aesthetically pleasing products.
- Flexible to working hours as schedules dictate.
- Must embrace change and be willing to adopt new skills to support all areas of the business.
- To be flexible in a team-oriented environment.
Desirable Qualities
- Working with air and hand tools (rivet gun, Riv-nut gun, sanders etc)
- NVQ Level 2 or above in Manufacturing would be advantageous.
