They have an exciting opportunity for a Functional Skills Tutor to join the family based at their Derby Training Centre. This is a full time role, with some travel between sites as required within the East Midlands, a driving licence and access to a car is therefore essential.

They are committed to safeguarding their learners; enhanced DBS clearance is therefore required for this role.

The Role

You will be engaging and supporting learners distanced from employment and of varied ability, predominantly with young learners aged 16-24 on their Traineeship Programme. You will be teaching and assessing their Functional English/maths up to Level 2 through a mixture of group learning, one-to-one sessions and via e-learning platforms. You will be effectively managing and progressing learners with varying levels of ability, to make them work ready, progress onto apprenticeships and ultimately employment.

The Individual

You should have experience of working with young people with a passion for motivating and inspiring learners.

You will be an effective communicator, able to successfully engage learners and overcome their barriers to learning. You will be able to provide fun and engaging learning sessions, supporting learners into employment. You will have the ability to coach, develop and mentor people with the ability to manage difficult situations calmly.

You should have a recognised teaching qualification, ideally at Level 4, but full training will be provided for you to achieve that level. Functional Skills maths and/or English at Level 3 (or above) is also highly desirable.
