This pharmaceutical company develops and commercialises innovative respiratory devices for the safe and reliable delivery of pharmaceutical cannabinoids. By combining regulated cannabinoid therapies with their unique inhalation technologies, they can bring safe, reliable and quick relief to patients who live with cancer and those who endure chronic pain.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and dedicated Formulation Development Scientist. They are a small, fast-paced organisation where timely decision-making and action-taking is essential. To succeed you will need to be willing to apply your knowledge and experience to new areas and have a passion for developing new and innovative products.

Your skills and experience
- Bachelor or higher in a relevant area (Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, etc) and relevant industry experience in formulation development (preferably in inhalation)
- Extremely organised with a very good eye for detail
- Have a ‘can-do’ attitude and no task is too big or too small for you
- Proficient with data handling and analysis, and technical reporting
- Proven research skills (preferably inhalation product related)
- A think outside the box mentality and a passion for technical creativity and problem solving
- Knowledge of GLP/GMP and related quality documentation processes for pharmaceutical R&D and production

Desirable:
- Experience with pressurised formulations and/or formulations for inhalation
- Experience with formulating and/or testing Cannabinoid material
- Basic know-how of standards, guidelines and regulations regarding quality systems and GMP guidelines and processes
- Knowledge of QBD principles and their application to new product development
- Experience with medical devices and testing related to medical devices in combination with drug formulations (e.g. leachables, extractables)

As part of this role, you will be responsible for the design, development and testing of new Cannabinoid formulations for inhalation in combination with their proprietary devices. This will include pre-formulation, formulation characterisation and process development.

- Conduct secondary research to aid in the development and optimisation of formulations
- Design, implement and manage product development scopes of work outsourced to external third-party service providers
- Manage and deliver on pre-formulation and formulation development studies, including product characterisation activities
- Develop experimental programs, work plan and schedule
- Work in collaboration with the team to define formulation (Container Closure System) and full product testing requirements in line with the relevant guidelines, with a view to establishing a shelf life
- Analyse and interpret data to present conclusions and recommendations
- Review test results in alignment with the project goals, identify causes of variances and recommend solutions to achieve goals.
