Food & Beverage Manager based in Northam, Bideford, North Devon

The Company:
Dating back to the 1800s they are the largest hotel in North Devon, based in Northam on the outskirts of Bideford. Overlooking the Estuary, the Hotel has a number of restaurants and a full entertainment programme, including live music most nights. Thanks to the positive experience the Hotel's guests receive, they are proud to be busy all year round.

The Role:
They are seeking a professional and customer focused Food and Beverage Manager to oversee the efficient running of the Hotel’s restaurants whilst supervising the food and beverage and bar staff to deliver an exceptional service to customers and guests. As the key point of contact in the restaurants and bar, you’ll ensure that customers and guests are served efficiently whilst keeping the food and beverage areas clean and attractive. You’ll also play a key role in ensuring menus and offers are promoted effectively, encouraging repeat and new customers.

With strong organisation skills, you’ll ensure that rotas are drawn up and restaurant shifts are appropriately staffed. Your people management skills will mean you are able to manage a team and will be responsible for keeping food and beverage employees motivated and engaged, whilst ensuring they meet the standards required.

The Person:
With experience in a similar role, you’ll have a customer focused approach to your work with excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to individuals at all levels. You recognise the importance of upholding professional standards and have a good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety legislation.

You’ll have strong experience in the hospitality and catering sector and will be committed to providing exceptional customer service. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll be a people person with the ability to effectively motivate and supervise a team whilst encouraging collaboration and giving clear and accurate instructions to staff. You’ll get on well with your peers and colleagues, working closely with them to ensure all services, functions and events run smoothly.

The following skills and experience are essential:
- Experience of management in the hospitality sector
- Knowledge of the commercial challenges and opportunities within the hotel or restaurant sector
- Excellent communications skills
- Proven understanding of food hygiene and health and safety legislation and regulations as they apply within the catering and hospitality sectors
- Experience of managing/motivating staff
