This company is one of London’s leading recycling companies. They are looking for a confident and experienced Fleet Supervisor, with a full C Class License. Their operations team is growing, with significant investment being made in the next two years, so this is a great opportunity to join a growing team in a company that encourages progression.
The Company
They provide recycling, secure shredding and waste collection services and pride themselves on providing a flexible, reliable and ethical service. They service over 5,000 clients in London and the South East. Their 66,000 sq ft warehouse in Purfleet, Essex is the main base of the Company.
The role:
As Fleet Supervisor you would be based at Purfleet and report to the Transport Manager. You would line manage all specialist truck and cage drivers and ensure that the staff you manage are not only fulfilling their duties but exceeding them.
What you will be doing:
Your focus will be on managing drivers and vehicles, ensuring compliance with defect reporting and walk arounds. Your main duties will include:
- Line Manager to 25 Drivers .
- Ensure all drivers are completing daily walk around checks correctly and reporting defects immediately. Arrange for rectification of defects.
- Manage vehicle maintenance contractors.
- Review tachograph data and discipline drivers in line with company policy.
- Carry out on-site repairs of minor vehicle defects by keeping a stock of spare parts (bulbs, etc) and tools and by providing appropriate training to drivers.
You will work a 45-hour week, typically working 4am to 2pm (with one-hour unpaid break). Flexibility will be required to cover the occasional night and weekend shift
Required Skills/Attributes:
- Have experience of managing a team of 15+ staff
- Strong people management skills, leading by example, engaging with colleagues at all levels
- C Class License, with full driver CPC & Digital Tacho Card
- CPC National Certificate holder would be an advantage, if not the Company would sponsor your qualification within 12 months of joining.
