This is an opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-growing specialist commercial vehicle contract hire business operating across the UK, with International commercial links.

They are seeking to appoint a Fleet Engineer to work within this small, friendly but very busy team enabling the business to continue to grow.

About the role
The Fleet Engineer role has excellent scope for professional development and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress whilst receiving continuous and meaningful support to assist their development.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Managing engineering projects as required – provide engineering advice and solutions
- Working closely with operations to provide advice and support in order to minimize VOR time
- Dealing with day to day maintenance issues as well as major accident repairs
- Investigating accidents/ incidents where required, producing written reports and close outs
- Management of internal & external repairers, to ensure company meets all vehicular safety & legal requirements
- Close management of service providers to ensure compliance is balanced against cost efficiency
- Regular visits to operations to review vehicle engineering, service and legal compliance
- Regular visits to repairers, to check legal compliance and value for money
- Managing delivery programmes
- Review of all costs via invoices and weekly/ monthly reports, consistently ensure tight cost control
- Undertaking spot check vehicle audits
- Commitment to improvement in engineering standards and operator/ driver education, thereby limiting PG9s and MOT failures
- Escalating to Manager any engineering issues that affect the wider fleet or that may lead to unusually high levels of cost
- Acting as key account manager to suppliers, ensuring that service provider terms and conditions are adhered to

Essential skills and experience
- Direct experience of Fleet engineer and/or Fleet Management role(s)
- Ability to work to targets
- Drive and determination to succeed
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing are critical
- Ability to develop and establish relationships with a wide range of organisations at all levels of seniority
- Well organised, able to use own initiative and manage workloads effectively, prioritising actions appropriately
- Positive, outgoing with a ‘can do’ attitude
- A flexible approach to work
- Proficient in use of the full Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook, PowerPoint is essential
