Fitter / Turner or a Fitter or a Turner

A Fitter / Turner is required to join a successful valve manufacturing company,

Overall Job Purpose:
- The Fitter / Turner is responsible for completing assembly assignments to build, repair and / or maintain valves in good operating condition as quickly and accurately as possible using fitting skills in a variety of craft disciplines.
- They are expected to be multi-skilled with a mechanical and lathe turning background to enable to contribute to machining activities when needed.
- They are expected to manage their own time from the initial planning through to hydraulic testing of valves with minimal assistance from the supervisor.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Completes assemblies of valves and castings with minimal guidance showing a proactive attitude to minimizing down time
- Troubleshoots valve functions in assembly and test operation.
- Dismantles and examines valves to gain access to and remove defective parts. Adjusts, repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Installs new or repairs / modifies components as needed.
- Improves reliability and up-time of all test and manufacture equipment.
- Takes a proactive approach to equipment issues with a preventive maintenance mentality.
- Assists in identifying and maintaining an accurate inventory of parts.
- Contributes to upkeep and updating of required paperwork such as records, maintenance logs, documents, manuals, drawings,
- Supports the vision, mission and guiding principles of the company.
- Follows applicable Safety, Health and Environmental rules and guidelines while performing job duties.

Required Education and Skills:
- Time Served or HNC or equivalent.
- Requires the ability to operate a wide variety of tools such as hand tools, power tools, drill press, band saw, welder, cutting torch, lathe, etc.
- Must have knowledge of mechanical systems must be able to read, communicate and comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, equipment files, etc.
- Ability to implement, enforce and maintain guidelines set by the Company or management.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisation skills and self-starter motivation. Continuous Improvement mind-set and results oriented.
- Must have manual dexterity enough to operate a wide variety of hand tools, hand trucks, fork lift, mechanical platforms and lifts, bench tools, welders, saws, drills etc.
- Fault finding abilities.

Years of Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience in industrial maintenance & or mechanical fitting and turning.
- Technical education a plus
- Training will be given to suitable applicants

Job Details:
- Full time
- Day shift,
- Starting Wage negotiable per / Hour dependent on experience.
