This international textile manufacturing company based in the Huddersfield area is looking for a General Operative within their Dyeing facility to assist in the processing of fabrics for dyeing and finishing.
You will ideally be close to the HD9 postcode. They are looking for a machine operative who has some flexibility with regards to the hours worked.
The successful candidate will to inspect fabric for faults after the dyeing and finishing process.
Duties include:
- Collection of carts/A-Frames for inspection.
- Inspecting fabric for dyeing/finishing/construction faults and tagging faults as per required quality level.
- Ensuring correct stickers and roll lengths are attached to inspected fabric.
- Stacking of fabric rolls from cage to cage for delivery to customer.
- Documenting of inspection results, batch, colour, meters, if OK or not OK, reason for throw off.
- Measurement of colour samples on Data Colour Spectrophotometer.
- Keeping inspection area clean and tidy.
- Documenting faults on rejected batches (i.e. Not straight/dye Stains)
- Taking fabric samples of noted faults for reference purposes for unit managers.
- Reporting any faults or inconsistencies to management.
You must have the ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure. You will also be able to demonstrate the upkeep of a tidy work space and be health and safety conscious.
Education / Skills / Knowledge / Experience
This is a physically demanding job in a busy manufacturing environment which requires good hand eye co-ordination. The ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
