This registered charity operating worldwide, exists to help organsation members and their dependants in need of support. It provides help and advice to members, former members and their families who find themselves facing hard times. The role

Working in a small team and reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Manager will be responsible for leading on any financial matter in connection with the smooth running of the Finance function.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget of £1.4m to support the Benevolent Fund as it seeks to
deliver its strategic objectives.
- Prepare quarterly Management Accounts, to provide accurate information for Trustees, Auditors and CEO.
- Preparation of the accounts to final account ready for audit and ensure smooth running of the Annual
Audit.
- Carry out monthly investment reporting on the stocks and shares bought and sold by the Fund’s
investment managers.
- Sit on the Benevolent Fund’s Investment Advisory Panel and provide financial reports as appropriate.
- Prepare figures and information to support the completion of Charity Commission annual return and
Companies House return as appropriate.
- Process and pay beneficiary grants to provide the support agreed by the Trustees.
- Monthly reconciliation of the Fund’s bank accounts to ensure records are correct.

What are they looking for?

It is essential that the successful candidate be highly numerate; have accounting and budgeting / forecasting experience; as well as advanced Excel skills. Experience of Sage Line 50 would be an advantage. Candidates must also have demonstrable experience of preparing accounts for annual audit.

To be successful, you will have experience within a finance role in an office / administration environment, as well as experience working across a number of projects simultaneously and to deadlines. Some accounting qualifications are desirable.

The ideal post holder will have a flexible approach and the ability to solve problems independently. They will have a positive and flexible attitude towards digital technologies and a willingness to embrace new ways of working.

As you will be working within a small team, you must have strong communication skills, be a team player and have a willingness to help out when needed.

Please note, occasional travel and occasionally working outside of core hours for events will be required in the role.
