This Independent boys prep school (4-13) based in Kingston upon Thames, is seeking a dynamic, highly-effective and well-qualified finance professional to manage effectively and efficiently the School’s accounting function. The role of the Finance Manager is a part time role (60%) during both term-time and holidays. Reporting to the Bursar and Treasurer, the successful candidate will also manage one other member of the finance team.

Main responsibilities will involve:
- Operational management of their finance department, (the school uses Sage Line 50 Accounts) from ensuring accurate financial reporting and financial control to managing cashflow, including improvement of finance processes.
- Providing monthly management accounts including annual and five year cashflow forecast, budgets, annual statements and balance sheets, bank and credit card reconciliations, depreciation, prepayments and accruals, and audit preparation to trial balance.
- Monthly staff payroll for 90 staff (Sage Line 50), Pensions, annual returns.
- Assisting in the School’s strategic planning and benchmarking exercises including analysis of current functions and improving procedures for procurement etc.
- Attending and reporting at Finance Committee meetings (4 times a year).

Skills and Experience:

- The ideal candidate will be fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Consideration will be given to candidates who are part qualified or AAT if they are able to demonstrate having a sufficient level of experience.
- Experience in a complex environment is essential, and they will ideally have some knowledge of the educational or charity sector.
- They will also need good people management skills, a high level of self-motivation and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, governors, parents, auditors and other relevant audiences. - Strong IT and analytical skills are vital.
